Meeting Carla

This past weekend we had the opportunity to meet Carla, Timmy's girlfriend. She is from Mexico and will graduate soon from school. She will be a doctor. It was fun getting to know her and I bet it was fun (and crazy) being around all us Washburn's. Bill spent the weekend at Camp Lomia with the girls from our stake so he missed out on all the activities. He was surely missed.

New Church Building

For the last few years we have been traveling to our Stake Center which is located on Encanto (north of McDowell) between 43rd Avenue and 51st Avenue. It takes anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes to get there. As of last week, we were officially into our new building which is about a mile away from us. This weekend was the open house and soon it will be dedicated. What a blessing to have a building in Laveen. Some of these families have been waiting YEARS to get a building close by. It is a beautiful building. It is small but it's so nice to have it so close.

Ethan Bush Fire

We are close to the Ethan Bush Fire that is burning around 83rd Avenue. It is actually about 5 miles away from us. We are in no danger (as of yet) however, I wanted to share this with you. We went and ran some errands today and when we got home, Lauren got out of the car and said it was snowing. I looked closer and found that it was the ashes from the fire. My car and everything outside is covered in ash. I guess we can call it "Phoenix Snow"??????

Lauren's Baptism

Lauren Isabel was baptized on Saturday, January 12, 2008 in the Laveen Ward, Phoenix Stake. Daddy baptized and confirmed her a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. There were about 100+ people at her baptism services and about 75+ people came over to the house for dinner and cake. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed seeing everyone there.
